How to download Instagram photos in 3 steps

  1. Copy the post's link. In the Instagram app, tap the paper plane (Share) under the post, then Copy link. Or tap the three dots at the top of the post and Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.
  2. Paste it in the box above and tap Get photos. Every photo of the post appears in a grid, in order, with its real size in pixels.
  3. Tap Save under one photo, or Download all (ZIP). A single photo saves as a JPG. The ZIP holds every slide of the post: photos as JPG, video slides as MP4 with sound.

No app, no account and no Instagram login. Any public post works, from a single photo to a 20-slide carousel.

What does "full size" mean on Instagram?

Instagram keeps several copies of every photo: small ones for the grid on a profile, square crops for previews, and the picture as it was posted. We save that last one, the biggest, uncropped copy. We checked what that means in pixels:

Post shapeSize we savedWhat the profile grid shows
Portrait 3:41080×1440A smaller crop
Portrait 4:51080×1350, or 2160×2700 on posts uploaded in higher qualityA smaller crop
Square 1:11080×1080The same picture, smaller
Landscape1080 wide, height as postedA centre crop

Each photo in the grid above shows its size, so you can check before you save. The widest Instagram photo we found was 2160 pixels. That is why a site promising "4K Instagram photos" is promising something Instagram does not keep: a 4K picture is 3840 pixels wide, and any "4K" copy of an Instagram photo is an enlarged one with no extra detail.

The photo is saved exactly as Instagram stores it, as a JPG, with no new compression, no watermark and no frame.

A carousel (a post you swipe through) can mix photos and videos. Many photo downloaders save only the first picture, send you to another page for albums, or skip the videos. Here you get the whole post:

  • Each slide in the grid, numbered in the order you swipe them.
  • Photos save as full-size JPG files.
  • Video slides have a ▶ mark. Their Save button gives you the video as an MP4 with sound, not just its cover picture.
  • Download all (ZIP) puts every slide in one file, named in order (account-post-1.jpg, account-post-2.mp4…), so they stay in the right sequence on your computer.

Video slides are saved as H.264, the format that plays in iPhone Photos, on every Android phone, in WhatsApp and in editing apps. (Instagram sends videos to websites in a newer format called VP9, which some phones cannot play; we convert carousel videos for you.)

In our test, a carousel of 8 slides (5 photos at 2160×2700 and 3 videos) became one ZIP of 17.4 MB.

Why do saved Instagram photos sometimes look blurry?

If a photo looks soft after you save it, one of these is usually the reason, and most of them have nothing to do with the downloader:

  • It was a screenshot. A screenshot is your screen, not the photo. On many phones the picture takes up less than the full width of the screen, so you get fewer pixels than the photo has, plus a second round of compression when the screenshot is saved.
  • It came through WhatsApp or Messenger. Chat apps shrink photos to save data. A photo sent as a normal image on WhatsApp usually arrives much smaller than the original. Send it as a document instead, or share the Instagram link and let the other person save it.
  • It was a crop or a preview. The squares on a profile grid and the previews in search are smaller copies. Saving those gives you a small, often cropped picture. We always take the picture as posted.
  • It was uploaded small. Instagram never makes a photo bigger than it was uploaded. If someone posted a 720-pixel picture, 720 pixels is all there is, and the grid above tells you so before you save.
  • It was zoomed in on a big screen. A 1080-pixel photo shown full screen on a 4K monitor is stretched to almost four times its size. That is normal; it looks sharp at its real size.

For the sharpest copy: save from the post link here, keep the JPG as it is (do not open and re-save it in an editor unless you need to), and share it as a file rather than as a chat photo.

Screenshot vs saving the photo

A screenshot looks like the quick way, but it is not the same picture:

Tube Snip vs other Instagram photo downloaders

We read the most visible Instagram photo downloaders on their own pages on 26 October 2026:

ToolSays it keepsShows each photo's real sizeCarouselsVideo slides as MP4Instagram login
Tube SnipThe picture as posted (JPG)Yes, in pixelsYes, all slides in one ZIPYes, H.264 with soundNever
SocialKing"Full HD resolution", "original size"Not statedSays it downloads every itemSays yesNot needed
InDown"Original High Quality"Not statedSays multiple photosSeparate video toolNot needed
Instappa"Source quality … when Instagram exposes it"Not statedSends you to a separate carousel toolSeparate toolsNot needed

Instappa is honest that its photo page is for single photos only. SocialKing and InDown also offer profile picture (DP) and story downloads, which we do not have.

Single photos, carousels, profiles and stories

  • Single photo posts: yes.
  • Carousels (albums): yes, every slide, including videos.
  • Reels: the cover picture shows, and the Save button gives you the video. For reels, the Instagram Reels & Video Downloader gives more choice (every quality, up to 1080p).
  • Private accounts: no. Only approved followers can see those posts, so our server cannot. We never ask for your Instagram password, and you should never type it into a downloader.
  • Stories and highlights: not yet. Stories need a login and disappear after 24 hours.
  • Profile pictures (DP): not on this page. A profile picture is a different file from a post, and this tool works from post links.

How to save Instagram photos on iPhone, Android and computer

On iPhone or iPad

  1. In the Instagram app, tap Share → Copy link on the post.
  2. Open this page in Safari, paste the link and tap Get photos.
  3. Tap Save under a photo. Safari asks where to save it: the photo goes to Files → Downloads. To put it in Photos, open the photo in Files, tap Share → Save Image.
  4. For many photos at once, tap Download all (ZIP), then open the ZIP in Files: it unpacks into a folder.

On Android

  1. In the Instagram app, tap Share → Copy link.
  2. Open this page in Chrome, paste the link and tap Get photos.
  3. Tap Save under a photo. It lands in Files → Download, and your Gallery or Google Photos shows it within a minute (if not, open Files → Download).
  4. For a ZIP, open it in Files by Google and tap Extract.

On Windows, Mac or a Chromebook

  1. Open the post on instagram.com and copy the address from the browser bar.
  2. Paste it here and tap Get photos.
  3. Save photos one by one, or tap Download all (ZIP). Double-click the ZIP in your Downloads folder to open it.

Can I use photos I download from Instagram?

Downloading is fine for your own photos, for pictures released under a Creative Commons license, and for photos whose owner has given you permission. Every photo on Instagram belongs to the person who took it. Saving one for yourself (a recipe, a reference, a memory from a friend's account) is very different from posting it again, selling it or using it in an ad.

If you want to share someone's photo, ask them first and credit them. Inside Instagram, sharing the post to your story keeps their name on it. Tube Snip is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta, and we do not keep the photos you save: they are deleted from our server after 40 minutes.

Why we built it this way

  • The real picture, not a crop. Instagram's square previews are tempting to grab because they load first. We take the uncropped original and show you its size.
  • Whole carousels, videos included. One link, one ZIP, every slide in order.
  • Videos that play. Carousel videos come as H.264, so they open on an iPhone without a black screen.
  • No login, ever. We only open what anyone can see without an account.

Questions about this tool

How do I download an Instagram photo?

Copy the post's link (Share → Copy link), paste it in the box at the top of this page and tap Get photos. Tap Save under the photo you want. No app and no login.

How do I download all photos from an Instagram carousel?

Paste the carousel's link and tap Download all (ZIP). The ZIP holds every slide in order: photos as JPG and video slides as MP4 with sound.

Can I download Instagram photos in HD or full size?

Yes. We save the picture as it was posted, the biggest copy Instagram keeps: 1080 pixels wide for most posts, and up to 2160×2700 on posts uploaded in higher quality. The grid shows each photo's size.

Can I download Instagram photos in 4K?

No, because Instagram does not keep photos in 4K. The widest we found was 2160 pixels; a "4K" copy is only an enlarged one.

Is the downloaded photo the same quality as on Instagram?

Yes. It is Instagram's own JPG file, not a screenshot and not re-compressed.

Does the photo have a watermark?

No. Nothing is added to the picture.

Can I download photos from a private Instagram account?

No. Only approved followers can see them, and we never ask for your Instagram login.

Can I download Instagram stories or profile pictures here?

Not on this page. It works with post links: single photos, carousels and reels.

What happens to the videos in a carousel?

They are saved as MP4 videos with sound, in H.264 so they play on iPhone and in WhatsApp. They are in the ZIP too.

Where do the photos go on my iPhone?

To the Files app, in Downloads. Open a photo there and tap Share → Save Image to add it to Photos.

Where do the photos go on Android?

To Files → Download. They show up in your Gallery or Google Photos within a minute.

Is this Instagram photo downloader free?

Yes. It is free with no account, and free use allows up to 20 downloads an hour.

Does Instagram tell the person that I saved their photo?

No. We open the post the way any visitor who is not logged in would.

Can I repost a photo I downloaded?

Only if it is yours, released under Creative Commons, or you have the owner's permission. Credit the photographer when you share it.
