How to download a Dailymotion video in 3 steps
- Copy the link. In the Dailymotion app, tap Share under the video, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar while the video is open. It looks like dailymotion.com/video/x9abc12 or dai.ly/x9abc12.
- Paste it in the box above and tap Get video. You see the cover, the title, the channel and every size Dailymotion gives us for that video, each with its real size in pixels and an estimated file size.
- Pick a size and tap Download MP4. The biggest one is selected for you. The file saves with sound, as a normal MP4 that phones, laptops, TVs and editing apps open.
There is no app to install, no sign-up and no Dailymotion login.
What quality you really get (read this first)
We want you to know this before you paste a link. On 27 October 2026 we tried 22 public Dailymotion videos (news, sport, TV shows, short films and gaming, from 37 seconds to 2 hours long). All 22 opened and saved. But for 21 of the 22, Dailymotion gave our server 480p at most, even when the same video plays in 720p or 1080p on Dailymotion's own site. Only one video, from a large gaming channel, came in 720p and 1080p.

So the honest headline is: Tube Snip saves public Dailymotion videos reliably, usually in 480p. The list in the box always shows the sizes we really get for your video. If it says 480p, the file will be 480p. We never relabel a smaller file as "HD".
480p looks fine on a phone and is good for watching offline, sharing a clip or keeping a news report. If you need 1080p of your own video, download it from Dailymotion Studio (see below), which gives you the original.
How long it takes and how big the file is
Dailymotion sends a video in many small pieces, so a download takes a little longer than a single file would. These are real downloads from our server:

A full-length 480p film of 1 hour 30 minutes comes to roughly 550 MB. On a phone, check that you have the space and use Wi-Fi.

A playlist or a channel page is not a single video. Open one video, then copy its link.
Why can a video not be saved?

SaveTheVideo's page is mostly the download box and adverts for other apps. Klipa is the only one that says up front that HD costs extra, video by video. We would rather show you the real sizes for each video and keep every size we can get free (within 20 downloads an hour). If you only need the sound, Tube Snip has no Dailymotion MP3 button yet: save the MP4 and play it in any music player, or convert it later.
Download your own Dailymotion videos in full quality
If the video is yours, Dailymotion lets you download the original from your account, in the quality you uploaded. Its help page explains it: open Dailymotion Studio, go to Media → Videos, find the video, open the menu next to it and choose Download. That is the best way to back up your own uploads in 1080p or 4K.
Public, private and password videos
Dailymotion has four kinds of visibility (from its help page on content visibility):
- Public: anyone can watch it and it shows in search. These are the videos this tool is made for, and the only kind we tested.
- Private: anyone with the link can watch it, but it does not show in search. We did not test private links, so we cannot promise they work.
- Password-protected: only people with the password can watch. We cannot save these.
- Draft: only the creator sees it.
Is it legal to download Dailymotion videos?
Downloading a video does not make it yours. Saving a copy of someone else's video can break the creator's copyright, depending on where you live and what you do with it. Save videos you made, videos released under Creative Commons, videos the creator allows you to keep (some say so in the description), or videos you need for a use your local law allows, like private study or quoting a short part in a review. Do not upload someone else's video again as your own. If you are not sure, ask the creator.
Dailymotion on phones and computers
- Android: open this page in Chrome, paste the link, tap Download MP4. The file goes to Files → Download.
- iPhone and iPad: open this page in Safari. After the download, the MP4 is in the Files app → Downloads. Tap Share → Save Video to move it to Photos. The H.264 file plays in Photos without any conversion.
- Windows, Mac, Chromebook: any modern browser works. The MP4 lands in your Downloads folder and opens in VLC, the Photos or Films app, QuickTime and every video editor.

Is this Dailymotion video downloader free?
Yes. You can save up to 20 videos an hour for free, with no sign-up and no Dailymotion account. Free pages show labelled ads; paid plans have none.
Can I download Dailymotion videos in 1080p or 720p?
Only when Dailymotion gives our server those sizes. In our test of 22 public videos, 21 came in 480p at most and 1 came in 720p and 1080p. The box always shows the real sizes for your video before you save it.
Why is the Dailymotion video only 480p?
Dailymotion decides which sizes it sends to a website like ours, and for most videos it sends 480p at most, even when the video plays in HD on Dailymotion. If it is your own video, download the original from Dailymotion Studio instead.
What format is the file?
An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound. It plays on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, smart TVs and in every video editor, with no conversion.
Does it work with dai.ly links?
Yes. dai.ly short links, normal dailymotion.com/video links, embed links and the newer geo.dailymotion.com player links all work.
Can I download a whole Dailymotion playlist?
Not yet. Paste one video link at a time.
Can I save Dailymotion videos as MP3?
Not yet. Save the MP4: any music player can play its sound.
Does it add a watermark?
No. The file is the video as Dailymotion sends it, with nothing added.
Can I download private or password-protected Dailymotion videos?
Not password-protected ones. We have not tested private (link-only) videos, so we cannot promise they work.
Is downloading Dailymotion videos legal?
It depends on the video and on what you do with it. Save your own videos, videos the creator lets you keep, or videos your local law allows you to copy, and never upload someone else's video as your own.
