How to download Instagram audio in 3 steps
- Copy the reel's link. In the Instagram app, tap the paper plane (Share) under the reel, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar. Reel links (instagram.com/reel/…), video post links (instagram.com/p/…) and links with a username in front all work.
- Paste it in the box above and tap Get audio. You see the post's cover, its caption and the account before anything downloads.
- Pick a format and tap Download. M4A is Instagram's own audio, untouched. MP3 128 plays on every phone, car and laptop. The file saves with the cover and a proper name already filled in.
There is no app to install and no Instagram login. Public reels and video posts are all you need.
What Instagram audio really is (and why 320 kbps will not sound better)
Before writing this page we downloaded reels and measured what Instagram actually sends. Reel audio is stored as AAC, in stereo, at 44.1 kHz and about 60 to 75 kbps (three reels measured on 26 October 2026: 60, 70 and 75 kbps). That is Instagram's choice to keep reels light on mobile data, and no downloader can get more out of it.
So here is the honest version of "Instagram to MP3 320 kbps":
| Format | What it is | Size for a 60-second reel | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| M4A (AAC original) | Instagram's own audio file, copied with no re-encoding | about 0.5 MB | You want the best possible quality. Plays on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac |
| MP3 128 kbps | A clean MP3 made once from the original | about 1 MB | You need MP3: older players, car stereos, some editing apps |
| MP3 192 kbps | A bigger MP3 from the same audio | about 1.4 MB | A device or app asks for 192 |
| MP3 320 kbps | A real 320 kbps MP3, but from a ~70 kbps source | about 2.3 MB | A device or DJ app insists on 320. It will not sound better than M4A |
| WAV | Uncompressed 16-bit audio at 44.1 kHz | about 10 MB | CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Audacity and other editors |
A site that promises "HD 320 kbps Instagram audio" is giving you a bigger file, not better sound. If quality is what you care about, take the M4A.
Instagram to MP3: turn a reel or video into an MP3
If you searched for an Instagram to MP3 converter, this is the same thing without the extra steps. There is no video to upload and nothing to install: the link is all it takes.
- Copy the link of the reel or video post (Share → Copy link).
- Paste it in the box at the top and tap Get audio.
- Pick MP3, then a bitrate: 128 kbps for the smallest file, 192 or 320 if a car stereo, DJ app or editor asks for it.
- Tap Download. The MP3 arrives with the reel's name and cover filled in.
It works the same for reels, video posts and IGTV links, so "Instagram video to MP3" and "reel to MP3" are covered too. A few honest notes:
- The MP3 cannot sound better than the reel. Instagram keeps reel audio at about 60 to 75 kbps (see the table above), so a 320 kbps MP3 is a bigger file, not better sound.
- Need MP3 for an old player or a USB stick? Pick 128 kbps: it is small and plays everywhere.
- Only need it on a phone? The M4A original is smaller than any MP3 and plays on iPhone and Android.
Name, cover and loudness, already sorted
Most Instagram audio downloaders save files with names like audio_1729983.mp3. Tube Snip names the file after the post and writes proper tags inside it:
- Title: the post's caption (shortened)
- Artist: the account that posted the reel
- Album: Instagram
- Cover art: the reel's cover, cropped square
- Comment: the link to the reel, so you can always find where the audio came from
Your music app, car screen and phone lock screen then show a picture and a name instead of a grey note. Turn Add cover art and a name off if you want a bare file.
Even out loudness sets the file to −14 LUFS, the level Spotify and YouTube use. It helps when one reel is whisper-quiet and the next one is blasting. Leave it off to keep the audio exactly as it was posted.
Download Instagram audio on iPhone, Android or a computer
The steps are the same everywhere: copy the link, paste it here, download. Only the place where the file lands is different.
| Device | Browser to use | Where the file goes | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad | Safari | Files app → On My iPhone → Downloads | Safari's Downloads list shows it right away. M4A plays in the Files app and opens in GarageBand |
| Android phone | Chrome | Files (or My Files) → Download | Long-press the file to set it as a ringtone or alarm in your phone's sound settings |
| Windows PC | Chrome, Edge or Firefox | Your Downloads folder | Copy the reel link from instagram.com in the browser bar |
| Mac | Safari or Chrome | Downloads in Finder | Drop the M4A straight into Music, iMovie or Final Cut |
Instagram's app has no "save audio" button for most reels: Save audio only bookmarks the sound inside Instagram, so you can use it in your own reel. It never gives you a file. That is what this page is for.
Save the song from a reel
Many reels use a song from Instagram's music library. When you download the audio here, you get the reel's sound exactly as it plays, with the song in it. If the creator talks over the music, their voice is in the file too, because Instagram mixes both into one track.
To find out which song it is, tap the song name at the bottom of the reel in the Instagram app. It opens the audio page with the song and artist. Then you can stream or buy the full song from the artist. The audio you download here is only as long as the reel.
Tube Snip vs other Instagram audio downloaders
We checked the most visible Instagram audio downloaders on their own pages on 26 October 2026. This is what each one offers:
| Tool | MP3 | Instagram's original M4A | WAV | Cover and name in the file | Loudness option | Stories | Instagram login needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tube Snip | 128, 192 or 320 kbps | Yes, copied with no re-encoding | Yes | Yes | Yes (−14 LUFS) | No | No |
| VideoDropper | Yes, "up to 320 kbps" | Not offered | Not offered | Not mentioned | Not offered | Says yes | No |
| ReelToAudio | Yes, "up to 320 kbps" | Yes | Not offered | Not mentioned | Not offered | Not mentioned | No |
| SocialKing | 128, 192 or 320 kbps | Yes | Not offered | Cover and track shown before download | Not offered | Says yes | No |
Every one of them is free and works without an Instagram login. Where Tube Snip is different: WAV for editors, loudness evening, and a file that arrives already named with its cover inside. If you need a story's audio, one of the others may suit you better, since we do not support stories.
"Original audio" or a song: what the label under a reel tells you
Under every reel, Instagram shows a small line with a music note. It tells you a lot about the file you are about to save:
- "Original audio" with an account name means the sound was recorded or uploaded by that creator: a voice-over, a podcast clip, a sound they made. It belongs to them, and the file you download is exactly that recording.
- A song title and an artist means the creator added a track from Instagram's music library. Your download contains the song as it plays in the reel, usually a 15 to 90 second part of it, sometimes with the creator's voice on top. The full song belongs to the artist and their label.
- A sound name that someone else made popular (a trend) means many reels share the same audio. Tapping the label shows every reel that uses it, which is a quick way to find the cleanest version to download.
If you only want the music without anyone talking over it, open the sound's page from that label and pick a reel where the audio plays on its own, then copy that reel's link.
Where to find the reel's link
The link is the only thing this page needs, and Instagram hides it in a few different places:
- Reel in your feed or the Reels tab: tap the paper plane under the reel, then Copy link.
- Reel someone sent you in a DM: tap the reel to open it full screen, then use the paper plane and Copy link. Copying the chat message itself does not give the reel's address.
- Video post (not a reel): tap the three dots at the top right of the post, then Copy link. Those links look like instagram.com/p/…
- On a computer: open the reel on instagram.com and copy the address from the browser bar. If it shows instagram.com/username/reel/…, that works too.
Links with tracking bits at the end (such as ?igsh=…) are fine: we clean them up for you.
Make a ringtone or alarm from a reel
A short reel sound makes a good ringtone. Download the audio here first, then:
On Android: save the MP3. Open Settings → Sound (on some phones Sound & vibration) → Phone ringtone, tap the add or "+" option and pick the file from your Downloads. The same file can be set as an alarm in the Clock app. Most phones play up to the first 30 seconds or so, so a short reel works best.
On iPhone: save the M4A (it is the format iPhone ringtones use). Open GarageBand, start an Audio Recorder project, tap the loop icon and choose Files to import the M4A from Downloads. Trim it to 30 seconds or less, then go back to My Songs, press and hold the project and choose Share → Ringtone. It then shows up in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone.
Use reel audio in CapCut, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve
Editors want an audio file they can line up with their cuts. For editing, take WAV: it is uncompressed, so trimming and effects never add new compression on top. If space matters, M4A is the untouched original and also imports into every editor listed here.
- CapCut (phone): open your project, tap Audio, then the option to add sounds from your device, and pick the file from Downloads.
- Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut: drag the WAV or M4A into the media bin or timeline.
- Audacity: File → Import → Audio. Use it to cut a clean loop or remove silence at the start.
If the reel's audio is quiet next to your other clips, switch on Even out loudness before you download, so you do not have to fix the level in the editor.
Are Instagram audio downloaders safe?
Most are fine to use, but some sites make money in ways you should look out for. A safe downloader:
- never asks for your Instagram username or password. Public reels do not need a login, so a site that asks for one wants your account, not the reel.
- does not ask you to install an app or a browser extension just to save one file.
- does not ask to send you notifications. If a "Download" button opens a permission pop-up, close it. If you already allowed one by mistake, Android's notification settings show how to turn it off.
- gives you the file you asked for, not an .exe or .apk.
Tube Snip asks for nothing but the link. There are no pop-ups and no fake download buttons, and the file comes straight from our server to your Downloads.
Why the first download takes a few seconds
When you paste a link, our server asks Instagram for the reel, then copies the audio stream and converts it to the format you picked. A 60-second reel usually takes a few seconds in total. The reel stays ready on our side for about 40 minutes, so a second format of the same reel, or the same reel for someone else, comes back faster. When many people save at once, the page shows your place in line instead of failing.
When a reel will not download
| What you see | Why it happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "That is not an Instagram reel or video link" | The link points to a profile, a story or a photo post | Open the reel itself, tap Share → Copy link, and paste that |
| "Instagram did not open this post for us" | The account is private, the post was deleted, or Instagram is asking for a login right now | Check that the reel opens in a private browser window. If it does, try again in a few minutes |
| "That post has no video or sound" | It is a photo post with no audio | Only reels and video posts have audio to save |
| The download stops or is slow | Your connection dropped, or many people are saving at once (you see your place in line) | Wait a moment and tap Download again: the same reel is ready faster the second time |
| "You reached 20 downloads this hour" | The free limit protects the service for everyone | Try again a little later in the hour |
Audio messages, stories and private accounts
People often ask about these, so here is the straight answer:
- Voice and audio messages in DMs are private between you and the other person. No website can open them, and you should be careful with any site that asks for your Instagram password to try. If you need to keep one, play it on your phone while its screen recorder is on.
- Stories are not supported here. A story that was also posted as a reel can be saved from the reel's link.
- Private accounts can only be seen by their followers, so their reels cannot be opened by our server.
We never ask for your Instagram login, and we do not need one.
Is it legal to download audio from Instagram?
Saving audio is fine when it is yours: your own reels, a voice-over you recorded, audio released under Creative Commons, or audio the creator has said you may use. Songs belong to their artists and labels, and original sounds belong to the people who made them. Downloading them to reuse in your own posts, or to share, can break copyright and Instagram's terms. Instagram explains the rules in its copyright help pages.
A good rule: save audio for your own listening, your own content, or with permission. If you want to use a trending sound in your own reel, use Instagram's Use audio button inside the app. That way the creator gets credit and you stay within the rules.

Questions about this tool
How do I download audio from an Instagram reel?
Copy the reel's link (Share → Copy link), paste it in the box at the top of this page and tap Get audio, then pick M4A or MP3 and tap Download. It takes a few seconds and needs no app or login.
Can I convert Instagram to MP3 for free?
Yes. It is free, with no account, and free use allows up to 20 downloads an hour. You can save MP3 at 128, 192 or 320 kbps, Instagram's original M4A, or WAV.
What is the best quality for Instagram audio?
M4A. Instagram keeps reel audio as AAC at about 60 to 75 kbps, and the M4A is that file copied without re-encoding. MP3 320 is bigger, but it cannot sound better than the original.
Why is the MP3 bigger than the M4A if the M4A is better?
Because Instagram's audio is small to begin with, about 60 to 75 kbps. The M4A keeps that file as it is. An MP3 at 128 kbps or more needs more space for the same sound, so it is bigger without being better.
Do I need to log in to Instagram?
No. Public reels and video posts download without any Instagram account. We never ask for your Instagram password.
Can I download audio from a private account?
No. Private reels can only be seen by the account's followers, so our server cannot open them.
Can I save an Instagram audio message or voice note from DMs?
Not with a website. DMs are private between you and the sender, so no site can open them. If you need to keep one, play it while your phone records the screen.
Where does the file go on my iPhone?
Into the Files app, under On My iPhone → Downloads. Safari also lists it in its Downloads list right after it saves.
How do I make an Instagram sound my ringtone?
On Android, download the MP3, then pick it in Settings → Sound → Ringtone. On iPhone, save the M4A and use GarageBand's "Use as Ringtone" option.
Does the audio have a watermark?
No. A watermark is a logo on the picture, and an audio file has no picture. The cover art inside the file is the reel's own cover.
Can I use downloaded Instagram audio in my own videos?
Only if it is yours, it is released under Creative Commons, or the creator or rights holder allows it. Songs belong to their artists. Inside Instagram, use the Use audio button to reuse a sound in your own reel.
